ALL BLIZZARDS:

Central NY Indoor Field Hockey Tournament

The Central NY team is hosting an indoor field hockey tournament to prepare for the NIT qualifiers. This is the first time there has been a tune up indoor tournament before the January qualifiers that is close to us and does not require staying overnight. Most of these holiday tournaments are in Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia area, which is one reason that they come to the NITQ more prepared for indoor competition and we catch up by the end of the tournament. There are only 2 spots remaining in this 8 team tournament. I would encourage all of the juniors and younger who are playing in the U-19 and U-16 NITQs to seriously consider this tournament. Please respond immediately. As soon as I have 8 players I will commit to going if there is still room in the tournament

  • Date: Tuesday, December 30
  • Time: 8-1:30pm
  • Location: CNY Sports Center at7201 Jones Road in Syracuse (off exit 39)
  • Cost: $50/player (no overnight hotel since it is an hour away)
  • Format: 6v6; USFHA indoor rules; U-19 Juniors and younger (not 2009 graduating seniors);

Please let me know if you joined Blizzards and do not yet have a uniform/missed the last uniform order:  I need you to confirm your shirt size and number. Do you also want navy shorts with logo (size?), navy socks, white socks?  Also the Blizzards sweatpants and golf shirts come from Longstreth and orders are put in at the same time.

Players may order additional uniforms and gear when general orders go in for new players- see website and costs of various items.  Fill out paperwork and send in a check but also let me know what you want by email.

If you know of players on your HS team who are considering joining Blizzards and want to get in on this uniform order, please let them know.  We usually put orders in about twice a year.

NITQ 2009: U-16 (1/17/09) and U-19 (1/18/09): Important, urgent

We need one U-19 and one U-16 goalie for NITQ

According to USFHA website (www.usfieldhockey.com) the Rochester Blizzards U-16 team was placed at Siena College on Saturday Jan 17 as requested.

The Two U-19 teams were place at Scranton the weekend before (not at Siena on Jan 18).  I have requested confirmation from USFHA regarding this as well as a request to be at the Siena location.  I will send another email with additional N ITQ details and confirmation that all players interested can attend at the new location and date.

Disney Showcase 2009: (2/6-8/09): Important, urgent

I do not have entry checks from everyone. Please email your intentions and send your entry ($150 to Margaret Smith-Lewis) immediately so that I know how many openings are still available on the team.  Current Blizzards who are Juniors and Seniors have priority.  The Disney entry checks will be cashed this week.  All players who have sent checks are on the roster (Jrs, Srs, Sophs)

Action:

  • Please sign new registration and medical release forms for 2008. They need to be signed each year.
  • Please create your resume in the one page Blizzard format. If you do not have SAT or other info, add when you get it.
  • All Blizzards will create a working resume after joining and update it.
Both Mrs. Switzer and I will review and correct resumes electronically before posting on the website.
  • All Juniors and all players going to out of area tournaments please provide (to me via email) a list of colleges, coaches names and email addresses that you have written to asking to observe you play.

Rochester Blizzards Website:

  • We are in the process of loading information onto the website. Please provide feedback, corrections, and suggestions for improvements to Debbie Weigand.
  • Once player resumes are in the correct format and complete, they can be posted on the website. We do not have a process for that yet.
  • We will post the Seniors resumes if they wish with where they are going to college
  • This will be an additional recruiting tool for you and for College Coaches.
